As an accredited academy with a 30-year history in the industry of beauty and wellness, Boca Beauty Academy has offered an industry-leading Massage Therapy Program for nearly three decades. Throughout the years, new procedures and protocols have been developed and our academy has been leading the charge in educating students every step of the way.
The roots of massage therapy date back to the 1700s, evolving throughout the years from majorly a medical practice to becoming more widely therapeutic. Gaining popularity in the United States in the 1970s, massage therapy has evolved to become an accessible luxury or proactive wellness treatment. Today, there are new innovative treatments and time-honored traditional therapies that blend medicinal origins with wellness-centered treatments. Massage Therapy is known to promote health, improve body function and mobility, enhance circulation, reduce stress, prevent disease, and help treat injuries.
To articulate this evolution, we dive back to the Swedish Movement introduced in the 1800s as a balance of “mind-body-spirit unity” with anatomy and physiology. A scientific and holistic approach that remains at the forefront of massage therapy today.
In 1943, The American Association of Masseuses and Masseurs was established, (now the American Massage Therapy Association), laying the foundation for the profession by establishing educational and ethical standards for the field. The 1960s produced a new generation and a revived interest in massage therapy, widely considered natural healing therapy.
To meet the ever-increasing demand for massage therapy and its counterpart, holistic massage therapy, Boca Beauty Academy set forth to create industry-leading programs that introduce all the modalities of the profession over time. Students enrolled in Massage Therapy at Boca Beauty Academy will learn the importance of human anatomy, physiology, pathology & kinesiology, and hydrotherapy; as well as the practices of aromatherapy and more. Our holistic massage therapy program also educates students on medicinal cannabis & CBD oils, diet/nutrition/toxicity, meditation healing, and the principles of homeopathy.
